Dr. Shefali on How to Have a Radical Awakening & Move into a Thriving Mentality

How can you find liberation and wholeness within your own being? Dr. Shefali, clinical psychologist, NYT bestselling author, CEO of Conscious Coaching Institute, and an expert in family dynamics, and personal development is on a mission to help others learn conscious parenting and mindful living so they can heal the next generation and themselves. She teaches you how to use mindfulness to tap into your expansiveness, why you shouldn’t try to do everything, how to let go of the illusion of your identity, and how to shift from a victim’s mentality into a thriving mentality.

1. There’s no need to hold onto the identity that you’re wounded because that identity is false. All of it is just really an illusion in the first place. There’s nothing to heal because nothing was broken.
2. Mindfulness is tapping into the present moment and the expansiveness of the present moment. Through that expansiveness you are connected to the interconnection between us all on a cosmic level. You always have access to that spaciousness no matter what.
3. Remind yourself that you are okay in your breath. You’re in your being. You don’t need the doing. You don’t need the form. You’re in your formless. It’s the best feeling in the world.
4. You are whole and you are wholeness. You are whole with your limitations and there’s nothing more you need to do. When you know this, it’s amazing what a different life you can have than the one you have right now.
5. Just because you can do everything doesn’t mean you should do everything. Only do what you can right now. Take away this allure of more, greater, bigger – and come down to the basics of being in your essence. That is liberation.
6. Turning the spotlight within is the first step. We have to put the awareness inward instead of focusing and obsessing on the outside world. Look inside.
7. The oppressed cannot stay in an oppressed mentality. Rise up and own that it was not your fault, but you’re not going to let that happen to you anymore. There’s always bad things that can come at you. It’s your responsibility to not let it stay.
