How can we foster more joy and optimism for ourselves and others? Rainn Wilson, NYT bestselling author, Emmy nominated actor, producer, podcaster, and cofounder of SoulPancake is back to share the spiritual explorations in his new book, Soul Boom: Why We Need a Spiritual Revolution. He reveals how to come to peace with your shadow side, how he lost and rediscovered himself once his career skyrocketed from The Office, how to keep hope alive, and what simple acts we can do to bring more healing, light, love and connection into the world.
There is a divine work in the creation of art. It’s emulating that divine impulse. It’s bringing joy and inspiration and uplift, which is a service to others.
No matter what our role is, we can always try and make the world a better place. We can bring healing, light, love, and connection.
The journey is not obliterating our dark side. The journey is coming to peace with it, and shining a light on those dark forces in ourselves. We have to live at peace with our shadow side. We learn, grow and mature by going through that – not by sweeping it under a carpet.
We have another story to tell humanity. We’re cooperative, we’re consultative. We create community. We can love each other. We can support each other. We can help each other move forward.
Foster joy and squash cynicism. We create change when we bring hope, feel hope, and access hope. You have to keep hope alive. You have to stay positive. It’s your charge.
We can always invite our neighbors over for lemonade. We can always pay for someone’s drink at Starbucks or volunteer. Everyone can be a part of very small efforts toward bringing people together.
